Although taking care of your plants is very important, taking care of yourself is more important, which means wearing the proper clothing for performing certain types of activities in your garden.

* Gardening Shoes:

Wearing the proper shoes in your garden is extremely important because you don’t want to wear your regular house shoes, tennis shoes, or street shoes as replacements for garden shoes. The most commonly worn footwear in the garden will be rubber boots. But sometimes rubber boots are not enough when doing some very strenuous gardening work. Sometimes you will need extremely strong boots that can hold up to a lot of the different materials that are being used in your garden such as fertilizers, tools, water, and chemicals used for getting rid of certain types of weeds that keep reoccurring. So, choosing the right type of gardening shoes will be extremely important to ensure that when working in your garden, your feet are well taken care of.

* Gardening Trousers:

Trousers are another important factor when working in the garden. Almost all the time a person is working on their knees which means their trousers will get the brunt of all the action. In order to make sure you have a great experience in your garden, wearing the right type of gardening trousers will be one of your first goals. These can be found in any type of home improvement center or hardware store in your local area. Typically people wear overalls and this will take care of the problem. Whatever kind of gardening trousers you choose, you’ll want to make sure that the knee areas of the trousers are reinforced.

* Knee Pads:

Knee pads are very important for working in the garden, because they protect your knees from those long hours of discomfort. Crawling around on your knees for long periods of time can be a devastating experience especially when you get up there in the years. So you’ll want to do everything you possibly can to protect your knees from any further issues by selecting the best type of knee pads you can find. Hardware stores or home improvement centers are the best place to pick up knee pads, but the ones that work the best are the knee pads that the contractors use because they are built tough, and they will last a long time.

* Gloves:

Working in the garden without gloves will almost feel like walking on the street without shoes. You will simply have to focus on getting the right type of hand protection for your hands when working in the garden. There are too many things in the garden that can hurt your hands that will prevent you from doing normal activities outside of the garden. Selecting the right type of gloves for the job will be extremely important.

* Head Wear:

Head wear for the garden is also an important factor and often gets overlooked. Normally when working in the garden the sun is always out, so it will be a good idea to cover your head. But the most important reason for covering your head, will be to prevent different types of insects and bugs from having a place to land while you’re busy taking care of your garden. Head wear will also help when a person starts to sweat, which will prevent any of the perspiration from entering your eyes. Many of you know when this happens you tend to rub your eyes with your hands that are full of garden soil. This is unacceptable and should be prevented at all costs.

Garden work wear doesn’t get talked about often, which should be one of the first items on a gardener’s list. It is very important to have certain protections when working in the garden, because there are many unforeseen elements that can potentially harm your skin. If you’re not entirely sure what type of garden work wear you should get, it will be important for you to either stop at your local hardware store or home improvement center to get the best gardening work wear they have available.

Understanding the New EPC Law and How it Affects You

From the 1st October 2008, a new law has been put into place stating that all homes due to be let out need to have an EPC. As a landlord/lady you will be responsible for purchasing the EPC and it should be readily available to your tenants. So just what is an EPC and why is it so important?

Understanding the EPC

EPC is short for “Energy Performance Certificate” and it basically shows landlords, tenants and letting agents the energy efficiency of their home. Each certificate will give the home a grade and typically that runs from A to G. A is the highest score that a home can receive and it means that the home has excellent energy efficiency. These days the average score of a home in the UK is D.

The main reason why it has become so important to have an EPC is because there is more concern these days over how much energy each household is wasting. The planet is in trouble and global warming is quite a big issue throughout the world. So the government are constantly trying to raise our awareness of how much energy we are all using and what can be done about it. By seeing how energy efficient your home is, it will help you to decide whether improvements should be made.

EPC’s and Letting

As mentioned earlier, EPC’s are needed by all landlords after the laws changed in October 2008. Once you have an EPC it will be valid for 10 years. Within that time you can choose to make improvements to the home to make it more energy efficient and then a new EPC can be obtained.
If you plan to let out your home then you will need to present the EPC to the lettings specialist agency. They will not always use it in their advertisement for new tenants, but if the score is quite good then they could use it to earn you more rent.

As people become more aware of energy efficiency, many tenants may be prepared to pay a little extra each month to live in a more energy efficient property. This is because not only is it good for the environment, but the more energy efficient the home is, the more money will be saved on electricity and other utility bills.

A lettings specialist agency will be able to help you get the information that you need regarding EPC’s. It is worth pointing out that if you only plan to rent out one room, you will not need an EPC. It is only needed if the tenant will be living alone in the property.

Overall once you have made the decision to let out your home, you should contact a lettings specialist agency to help you to obtain an EPC. Lettings agencies can be extremely helpful and they will help you to use the EPC to your advantage, as well as taking care of the entire letting process.

Russian Doctors – Only Tissue Hypoxia Can Trigger Bad Genes and Diseases

How and why bad genes are triggered is one of the greatest puzzles of modern physiology and medicine. Thousands of people die every year from various conditions which have a genetic component. These conditions range from cancer and heart disease to COPD and diabetes. Why do some modern people develop gene-related health problems, but others do not? Why do almost all children, who are genetically predisposed to, for example, asthma (about 20% of all children on the West), have it these days? Why did children living a century ago not develop asthma, as well as many other disorders? We have had the same gene pool for many millennia.A large group of Russian doctors, who practice a self-oxygenation therapy known as “the Buteyko method”, assert that bad genes are revealed only in conditions of tissue hypoxia (or low body oxygenation). Why do they believe so? Their conclusions are based on their observations and practical work with their patients.It is true that cellular hypoxia is the prime cause for cancer. It is also known that low body oxygenation is the normal feature in heart disease, COPD, diabetes, chronic fatigue, arthritis, acne, insomnia, and many other chronic conditions. How to measure tissue hypoxia?Body oxygen content, as these Russians found, can be easily measured using stress-free breath holding time test. This test is so fundamental for the Buteyko self-oxygenation therapy that they use a special name “the CP” or “the Control Pause”.Try the CP test yourself: breathe normally while sitting; after your usual exhale pinch the nose (to prevent slight unconscious breathing); and measure the time only until the first distress. The most common mistake is to overdo the test. In this case, you will notice that the stress is gradually increasing. It is time to stop. If you do the test correctly, you will not gasp for air after the test.In fact, your breathing pattern must be exactly the same after the correct test as it was just before it. [Warning. Some, not all, people with heart disease, migraine headaches, and panic attacks may experience negative symptoms minutes later after this light version of the test. If this happens, they should avoid this test.]Dozens of Western studies proved that patients with numerous conditions have impaired breath holding abilities. These Russian doctors tested thousands of patients and discovered the following results for the CP.Severely sick, hospitalized, and terminally ill patients have from 1 to 10 s CP. They fight with death and symptoms. With approaching death, their breathing gets bigger, deeper, and heavier 24/7; body oxygenation is critically low, while breath holding time approaches zero: 5, 4, 3, 2, and only 1 second just before the death. This is the way over 90% of sick people die.Patients with mild forms of the disease (heart disease, diabetes, cancer, COPD, etc.) have about 10-20 s CP. These patients are usually on medication to control their symptoms.Asymptomatic asthmatics and heart patients have slightly more than 20 s of oxygen in the body.Healthy adults, according to published western results, should have about 40 s CP, but Doctor Buteyko and his colleagues found that 60 s of oxygen in the body is incompatible with about 150 chronic diseases or diseases of civilization. Hence, he established 60 s CP as a standard of ideal health. Thus, negative effects of genes (various diseases) can be reversed when the person normalizes body oxygenation by breathing retraining.Doctor Buteyko and his colleagues taught this self-oxygenation therapy to over 200,000 patients, mostly with asthma, COPD, and heart disease. The Buteyko method was approved by Russian Ministry of Health and is officially practiced in Russia only by medically educated people. These are the reasons why Russian people know or heard the name “Buteyko breathing”.Poor knowledge of English is still the main obstacle to faster information exchange and better understanding of this natural self-oxygenation therapy. Meanwhile, some websites of Russian MDs have web pages in English:http://www.buteykoclinic.com/ (Buteyko Clinic in Moscow) http://www.buteyko.ru/eng/voronezh/index.shtml (Buteyko Clinic in Voronezh)Recent clinical trails in Australia, New Zealand, and the UK brought some publicity to the Buteyko oxygenation method in these countries. There are now hundreds of breathing practitioners there who teach how to boost body oxygenation using breathing exercises and auxiliary methods (posture, exercise, cold shower, restrictive eating, raw diets, hard beds, etc.).
